Southbound Travel Scheme

mar26 Guangdong governor Meng Fanli said the “Southbound Travel for Guangdong Vehicles” scheme has been progressing smoothly since its implementation more than two months ago. Meng made the remarks while attending China’s annual “Two Sessions” meetings in Beijing, where he expressed support for the initiative. “The scheme is moving forward, and we will certainly proceed according to the established approval process,” Meng said. When asked whether he was confident that all cities in the province could participate within six months, Meng said authorities would assess the situation as it develops, adding that cross-boundary connectivity is currently being promoted smoothly. Former Secretary for Transport and Housing Frank Chan Fan said initiatives that benefit the public and enhance people’s sense of well-being and security should be gradually expanded.
